PAN Aadhaar Link: The last date for linking Aadhaar with PAN card has been extended once again. CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) has issued a notification regarding this. CBDT has extended the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar till March 31, 2022, in a tweet on September 17. Earlier this deadline was ending on 30 September 2021.

The CBDT has said that the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar is being extended after the difficult situation arising out of the Corona epidemic and appeals from different stakeholders. The deadline for reporting Aadhaar number to the Income Tax Department for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

Also, the last date for completion of penalty proceedings under the Income Tax Act has also been extended, which was earlier September 30, 2021, which has now been extended to March 31, 2022. Let us tell you that if you do not link Aadhaar-PAN by this date, the PAN card will be declared inactive.

 

Methods to Link PAN with Aadhaar Card

Basically, There are two ways through which you can link PAN and Aadhaar. These are:

1. Using the Income Tax e-filing website

2. Sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161

 

Process of linking PAN with Aadhaar Card

Step 1. To link Pan Card with Aadhaar Card, one has to first go to the e-filing website of Income Tax.

Step 2. Now on the left side of the home page, you will get the option of Link Aadhar, click on it.

Step 3. Now the option to fill the details will open in front of you, fill all your details in it.

Step 4. In these options, there will be an option to fill PAN number, Aadhaar number, fill it also.

Step 5. Enter the captcha code.

Link Pan Card with Aadhaar via SMS

In this you have to SMS. To link your PAN card with Aadhaar via SMS, you have to type UIDPAN <Aadhar Number> <Pan Number> from your registered number and SMS it to 567678 or 561561. After doing this, you will get the information about the linking of PAN with Aadhaar through a message.

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax Department’s official website and go to Aadhaar Status or

Click on the link incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/aadhaarstatus.

Step 2: Enter your Aadhaar and PAN number.

Step 3: Click on the ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’ option.

You can check the status of linking of Aadhaar with PAN card via the SMS facility as well. For that, You will have to send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in format given below:

UIDPAN < 12-digit Aadhaar number> < 10-digit Permanent Account Number>

If your Aadhaar has been successfully linked with PAN then you will be able to see the message like this:-

‘Aadhaar (Aadhaar number) is already associated with PAN..in ITD database. Thank you for using our services’.

 

What Fine you have to pay?

PAN card is required for work like opening a bank account, banking transactions, mutual fund transactions, stock market investments. If you do not link PAN with Aadhaar by March 31, 2022, then investors may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 10,000 for banking transactions of 50,000 or more. Also double TDS can also be deducted by the bank.
